MY PATH TO YOGA
As a hairdresser, I spent my late twenties and early thirties feeling constantly exhausted, anxious, and on edge. My mind never seemed to rest, always chasing the next thing that I thought would finally bring happiness. That restless energy became my default mode.
Thankfully, I can now say that I feel more balanced. Yoga has helped me calm my mind, centre myself, and find peace by tuning into my body and thoughts.
You can experience this too.
It all starts today, with the choices we make. Learning to relax and let go in the modern world isn’t easy, but it’s essential.
I first discovered the benefits of yoga while recovering from sciatica. Through practice, I was able to heal without medication, which was a real eye-opener. Yoga, for me, is not just a physical practice—it’s a way of life that supports both body and mind. Alongside building strength and flexibility, it has helped me manage stress and anxiety, giving me tools to navigate life with greater calm and clarity.

AWARENESS
Yoga is a continuous journey, and I continue to learn and grow through my own practice.
The practice of yoga is a "work-in," rather than a "work-out." It grounds us emotionally and spiritually, helping us navigate life, overcome challenges, and move forward with awareness and balance.
"Your body exists in the past and your mind exists in the future. In yoga they all come together in the present." – B.K.S. Iyengar

QUALIFICATIONS
About Me
I am an Iyengar Yoga instructor based in the Marlow and Henley-on-Thames area.
I first discovered yoga in my early twenties, completing a general yoga teacher training course before being drawn to Iyengar Yoga. Under the guidance of senior Iyengar teachers Uday Bhosale and Sheila Haswell, I found that Iyengar’s precise focus on alignment gave me a much deeper understanding of asana (yoga postures).
Inspired by this, I began a two-year Iyengar Yoga teacher training with my teacher and mentor Sheila Haswell (CIYT). The training involved over 150 hours of practical tuition, as well as study in anatomy, asana, and pranayama (breathing techniques). In my final year, I also gained valuable experience assisting Sheila in her classes twice a week.
In the summer of 2019, I qualified as a certified Iyengar Yoga teacher with the Ramamani Iyengar Memorial Yoga Institute.

IYENGAR YOGA CLASSES
Iyengar yoga classes emphasise precision and alignment. Quality of movement is prioritised over quantity. You learn to move with ease in your body while working within your limitations. This makes the yoga postures (asanas) safe to perform.

Yoga postures are held for longer than in some other methods, allowing tight muscles to lengthen and relax, and helping to focus awareness. Yoga props such as blankets, blocks and belts may be used to improve your understanding of poses or to help if you have difficulties.

"Yoga is a light, which once lit, will never dim.
The better your practice the brighter your flame"
B.K.S Iyengar
